PetleyHare Insurance is expanding its presence within Ontario’s Durham Region with its acquisition of Gwilliames & Associates Insurance Brokers. The move aligns with its strategy to grow its brand recognition and customer base across the region.
Gwilliames & Associates, established in Ajax in 1964, has long provided a range of insurance solutions to residents of the Ajax and Durham Region, including home, auto, business, life, and travel insurance. The company’s commitment to serving the local community for 60 years has been a key part of its identity.
Gwilliames & Associates’ managing partner Owen McNeil noted the company’s pride in its role within the local business community.
“Gwilliames & Associates Insurance Brokers have been a proud part of the business community for 60 years and we are happy to integrate with PetleyHare to continue to provide the same level of service and care we have provided to our clients over the years. We are confident that their values and understanding of consumer needs will measure up to our client’s expectations,” said McNeil.
The transition of Gwilliames & Associates’ clients to PetleyHare’s operations began on October 11, 2024. They are being incorporated into PetleyHare’s brand and business processes.
PetleyHare president Adam Hare highlighted the company’s commitment to growth in Durham Region.
“Expanding our customer base in the communities we already love to serve is just a natural step forward for us,” said Hare.
Hare also acknowledged Gwilliames & Associates’ long-standing relationships with families and businesses in the region.
“Gwilliames & Associates Insurance Brokers is a great brokerage that has provided insurance solutions to families and businesses within the Durham Region for 60 years. We look forward to building on these meaningful, long-lasting relationships,” he added.
PetleyHare, which was founded in 1922, has been focused on long-term growth, according to vice president Ashley Holmes. She cited recent investments in branding, technology, and leadership.
“These strategic moves are designed to enhance our capacity to serve our clients and community better, while positioning us to continue our growth in the acquisition space,” said Holmes.
