Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) is advising local drivers to remain in “winter-driving mode” following reports that the province could experience severe winter weather.
Environment Canada forecasted ‘a major winter storm’ to hit parts of Manitoba on Monday and Tuesday. The agency also predicted poor travel conditions, due to a possible combination of rain, snow, and strong winds. The agency explained that rain and snowmelt from Monday could freeze over on Tuesday, creating slipping hazards.

Winnipeg Sun reported that roads and conditions right outside Winnipeg could be at their most dangerous during the early morning hours of Tuesday. Snowfall is expected to range from five centimeters in southeast Manitoba to 30cm or more in areas along the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border.
