Marsh has announced the appointment of Adam Russell (pictured above) as head of global wholesale, effective immediately.

In this newly confirmed role, Russell will oversee the firm's global wholesale insurance broking operations, including portfolio solutions. He reports to John Donnelly, president of global placement at Marsh, and will remain based in London.

Russell is tasked with advancing Marsh’s global wholesale and facultative business and will work with teams across the company to support clients through a range of placement capabilities and advisory services.

He previously served as head of strategy, global placement, a position he assumed in December 2023. Since joining Marsh in 2014, Russell has held several senior leadership roles.

He led Marsh’s international wholesale placement operations in Singapore, later becoming Placement Leader for Marsh Asia’s retail business in 2018. In 2022, he moved to London to head the UK Portfolio Solutions and Digital Placement teams.

Additionally, Marsh also announced that Charlotte Meah will succeed Russell as head of strategy, global placement.

Meah, who is based in Atlanta and also reports to Donnelly, joined Marsh in 2013 as a senior advisor in the risk consulting business. Most recently, she held the role of chief of staff for Marsh Specialty & Global Placement.

Donnelly said consolidating the company’s wholesale capabilities under Russell’s leadership is intended to give clients consistent access to suitable markets and solutions worldwide.

Russell’s promotion to his new role is the second major advancement for the global broker this month. Earlier, Marsh also appointed Amy Barnes as global head of energy & power as the industry ramps up support for the net zero transition.

In her new role, Barnes will oversee strategy and innovation for Marsh’s global network of energy and power advisors, risk engineers, and brokers. Barnes will also continue her responsibilities as head of climate and sustainability strategy at Marsh.
