A number of insurers domiciled in the Atlantic Canada area have been recognized as some of the best employers in the region.
The Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers designation recognizes employers in Canada’s four Atlantic provinces that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work; it is currently in its 9th year.
For this year, the employers that made the list were chosen for “[finding] ways to bring the best out in their employees in terms of giving back to the community.”

Canada’s Top 100 Employers committee have named property/casualty carrier Admiral Insurance Services, auto club and insurer CAA Atlantic Limited, medical carrier Medavie Blue Cross, and the Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia as some of Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers for 2018.
“The leading employers recognize that creating a spirit of community in their workplace strengthens engagement, staff cohesion and employee performance,” said Canada’s Top 100 Employers project managing editor Richard Yerema. “From the Avalon Peninsula to the Bay of Fundy and up to the Miramichi, we see that a strong sense of community is what links this region together and makes these employers so successful.”
To make the list, employers must meet the following criteria, as determined by the Canada’s Top 100 Employers committee: physical workspace; work atmosphere & social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.
