Economical may have closed up shop in New Brunswick, but one insurer is expanding operations in Saint John.
TD Insurance announced it is expanding its operations in Saint John, creating over 275 jobs over the next three years. TD Bank Group Deputy Chair, Frank McKenna, TD Insurance President & CEO, Kenn Lalonde, and New Brunswick Premier David Alward made the announcement at the company's Rothesay Avenue office.
“TD has a long and rich history in New Brunswick,” said Frank McKenna, deputy chair, TD Bank Group, “and this expansion further demonstrates our continued commitment to the province and to delivering service excellence to our customers.”
Earlier in the month, Economical closed its Moncton, N.B. office, transitioning its underwriting operations to Halifax, N.S. and putting 22 people out of work. Only days after the Moncton announcement, Economical closed its Hamilton, Ont. office and shifted resources to neighbouring communities.
According to TDI, the partnership with the province through Invest NB is a great opportunity to help support the company's future growth in the region. Already, 121 positions have been posted on the corporate website.
“Our team in Saint John is among the best in the country in delivering the legendary experience that our customers expect from TD Bank and TD Insurance,” said Kenn Lalonde, president and CEO, TD Insurance. “This partnership provides a great opportunity to build on this strength and create future growth for the region.” (continued.)
