InsureMyTrip has introduced the TIPS Post-Departure Plan, a new insurance solution aimed at enhancing protection for Canadian travellers who already have trip cancellation coverage through a credit card or other protection plan.

Underwritten by Old Republic Insurance Company of Canada, the new policy offers coverage for a range of post-departure needs, including emergency medical expenses, trip interruptions, and baggage loss or delay.

The TIPS Post-Departure Plan is designed to provide added peace of mind for travellers looking to fill gaps in their existing insurance coverage.

Key benefits of the TIPS Post-Departure Plan include trip interruption coverage, which reimburses unused cruise or land arrangements (up to the sum insured) and provides unlimited return flight expenses in case of interruption.

Travellers are also covered for emergency medical expenses, with up to $10 million in coverage for unexpected medical needs while abroad. Additionally, the plan offers up to $1,500 for trip delays, covering related expenses and providing further assistance if the delay impacts the overall trip.

For lost or damaged belongings, the plan provides coverage up to $1,500 for baggage and personal effects. It also includes accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage, with up to $100,000 for air flight accidents and up to $50,000 for accidents occurring outside of air travel, excluding motor vehicle accidents. The plan reimburses up to C$100 for personal money and covers passport replacement costs if lost.
