Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) has teamed up with Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli to donate carbon monoxide detectors to locals.
The IBC donated 25 CO detectors for the food bank in Callander, Ontario for local distribution. To date, the bureau has donated 1,000 detectors to fire departments across the province and has plans to donate 1,500 more over the summer season.
“I am happy to be donating these lifesaving CO detectors today,” Fedeli said. “Carbon monoxide poisoning is easily preventable. Donations like these help raise much needed awareness of the importance of guarding against carbon monoxide.”

“Despite the serious threat of carbon monoxide poisoning, many Canadians do not have CO detectors in their home,” said IBC Ontario vice-president Kim Donaldson in a statement. “Events like today help create awareness about the steps Ontarians can take to protect themselves and their families.”
According to a release from the IBC, 250 Ontarians have perished from accidental CO poisoning over the last 15 years.
