The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) has unveiled a new tool called DASH (Driver and Auto Search History), a policy and claims information system.

Developed in collaboration with the sector, DASH provides comprehensive reports on a consumer’s auto insurance history, spanning policies, claims, and other essential data used to generate insurance quotes.

Unlike traditional pay-per-transaction models, DASH operates on a subscription basis, allowing insurers and brokers to generate as many reports and quotes as needed.

James Fordham, IBC vice president for industry information services and chief information officer, highlighted the benefits of this approach, saying: “We feel this model, along with DASH’s seamless application programming interface (API) integration, single sign-on authentication, and rapid reporting system, delivers a best-in-class product for subscribers.”

IBC provides access to DASH through the official DASH portal and an API that integrates with an insurer’s underwriting system. To support subscribers, IBC offers training, reference documentation, a user manual, brokerage tools, and a webinar.

Fordham commented: “We’re proud to have collaborated with over 90% of the P&C (property and casualty) insurance industry in the creation of DASH.

“With industry direction, we developed a tool that addresses key pain points in the current driver reporting environment and offers an unmatched user experience for industry professionals. This is truly an industry product – by insurers, for insurers.”

The service is accessible to private auto insurers and brokers licensed in Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Yukon. More details on DASH are available on dashinfo.ibc.ca.
