With in-person conferences still on hold due to the pandemic, the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) has announced that it will be holding its Young Broker Conference as a virtual event for the first time.
Set for June 17, 2021, the event’s focus this year is tackling the biggest issues currently faced by brokers – the hardening market, working in an online world, and protecting mental health. IBAO’s event aims to offers insight, inspiration, professional development and networking opportunities to the next generation.
While the event is targeted at brokers aged 40 and under, as well as those who have worked in the channel for five or less years, IBAO invites all industry professionals to attend.
“We’re hosting market availability discussions within personal and commercial lines, leadership panels and trending topic sessions that hit all the key areas brokers need to stay up-to-date,” said IBAO president Joseph Carnevale. “We want to equip young brokers with a new toolset they can put into practice the next day. As a managing partner at my own brokerage, these are skills I’d want staff to have.”
“This event is a great way to show your team they’re valued and appreciated,” added IBAO marketing & communications director Norah Black. “It’s been a tough year full of routine—so in addition to professional development, we’ve planned an exciting lineup for attendees.”
The conference will feature an interactive keynote from Brand Heroes president Mike Leon about developing a leadership brand that leverages storytelling to sell belief. Black also said that that IBAO has partnered with Travelers Canada on a virtual comedy show featuring Graham Chittenden and Andrew Packer, and that there will be a live concert featuring Juno-nominated singer-songwriter AHI.
Black also mentioned that the Young Brokers Conference will also feature the launch of a “Charity Challenge” and there will be giveaways throughout the event.
IBAO members will enjoy reduced pricing when registering for the event, with group discounts for three or more brokers. Registration closes June 14.
