iA Financial Corporation has proposed the appointment of Ernst & Young LLP as the company’s external auditor for the 2026 financial year.

The move follows a recommendation from the board’s audit committee.

As stated in the company’s latest management information circular, an external auditor tender process was conducted last year, leading to the decision to recommend Ernst & Young. This selection process, last undertaken in 2013, is part of the company’s internal governance framework and commitment to governance practices.

The company expressed appreciation for Deloitte’s service as external auditor, acknowledging its understanding of the company’s business, operations, accounting policies, systems, and internal controls, which has contributed to the audit services provided over the years.

A transition process between EY and the company will take place during the 2025 financial year to facilitate the transfer of audit responsibilities before the company's annual meeting of common shareholders in 2026.

The appointment of EY will be presented to shareholders for approval at that meeting. Deloitte will continue as external auditor for the 2025 financial year, subject to shareholder approval at the company’s annual meeting on May 8, 2025.

Founded in 1892, iA Financial is one of the largest insurance and wealth management groups in Canada with operations in the US. Last year, it donated $500,000 to charities that are contributing to addressing societal issues such as homelessness, food insecurity and violence and discrimination. It also donated $200,000 to Food Banks Canada to support the latter’s goal of providing assistance to individuals and families facing food insecurity.
