The secret of success for Mark Jackson, President of Ontario-based The Insurance Market, is simple. “It boils down to putting myself in my clients’ shoes and always thinking ‘what would I want my broker to do?’ That customer service mentality that is always on my mind is what I think makes the difference.”
It is an approach that has served the Ontario-based winner of one of the highest slots in Insurance Business Canada’s Elite Brokers of 2015 well.
Ultimately, Jackson says, he is always thinking outside of the box for ways in which he can offer more than the “typical broker service; really going that extra mile to be a partner to our client, not just their insurance person. To be part of their team.”
For instance, Jackson says, the one commodity in short supply for almost everyone, is one he tries to save for his clients: time. “It’s something that we’re always looking for more of and I see that my customers are busy -- what can I do to save them time, and not give them work, not have them thinking about insurance? Building that trust that anything insurance-related, I got their back, and I’m looking after them.“
And that trust? “You have to earn that. Sometimes it’s earned right away with that initial experience, from the get-go, but it’s earned. Sometimes over a short period of time – or it could take years to build up.” And Jackson seems to have built his own success in a reasonably short period of time – after leaving Bryson and Associates as and associate broker just three years ago, he is now president of a brokerage that has seen him recognised as one of Canada’s top producers. His ‘simple trick’ certainly seems to be working.
