Guy Carpenter & Company has appointed Peter Askew (pictured) to serve as the new president and CEO of Guy Carpenter’s Canadian business.
Askew succeeds Donald Callahan, who steps down from the position of Guy Carpenter Canada president and CEO after 20 years of service. Callahan will remain with Guy Carpenter in Canada, and will continue to support Askew.
In his role as the new president and CEO of the regional business, Askew will be responsible for overseeing Guy Carpenter’s reinsurance broking activities in Canada, which includes both the company’s Montreal and Toronto offices.
Askew has more than 25 years of re/insurance industry experience, most recently serving as managing director of Guy Carpenter & Company Canada. Prior to joining Guy Carpenter, he was director of Canada for QBE Services.
“I am delighted that Peter has taken the helm of our Canadian operations and that Don will continue to contribute to the success of our clients. Guy Carpenter’s long-term commitment to maintaining a deep talent pool is clearly evidenced by Peter’s promotion,” commented Guy Carpenter North America CEO John Trace.
Trace added that Askew’s decades of local market knowledge and understanding of the unique demands of Guy Carpenter’s clients will ensure that the Canadian operation will continue to go “from strength to strength.”
