Payer-provider health services organization Green Shield Canada has announced that it has acquired BCH Consultants.
BCH Consultants is Quebec’s second-largest employee assistance program provider. Its acquisition would add 700 Quebec-based clinicians to Green Shield's existing network.
Following the deal, Green Shield’s national, bilingual mental health services would grow to 5,000 clinicians, a company release said. BCH Consultants’ current leadership team will continue to operate the business under the same brand, with Joannie Gauthier remaining as president.
"With the addition of BCH Consultants, Green Shield is proudly expanding our critical mental health services and EAP capabilities, further solidifying our position as the fastest growing provider of mental health services in Canada," said Green Shield executive vice president, head of health services and enterprise growth Joe Blomeley. "As part of our integrated health services offering, we are building a healthcare experience around the patient, grounded in our mission of championing better health outcomes for all Canadians."
Green Shield has noted that this is its eighth acquisition in two years, and its third in terms of mental health expansion.
"This acquisition reaffirms Green Shield's commitment to the Quebec market," commented Green Shield senior vice president, enterprise growth and Quebec region leader Steve Laberge. "We are building a new standard of care focused on the unique needs of individual patients. Acquiring BCH Consultants provides Green Shield with the valuable knowledge and insights of local clinicians to further enhance our ability to offer patient-centric care to the residents of Quebec."
Last August, Green Shield teamed up with Benecaid to launch a health benefits solution called Honeybee Select. It is a platform that allows small businesses with 25 or fewer employees to purchase benefits plans that suit their needs.
