Gore Mutual Insurance Company has been recognized as one of 2020’s Best Workplaces in Canada by Great Place to Work Canada (GPW).
The award was given to Gore Mutual after GPW conducted an independent analysis of the company. Over 400 Canadian businesses were nominated for the award, and more than 80,000 employees participated in the survey conducted by GPW.
This year’s awards celebrated the top 50 Canadian companies in three categories: small (less than 100 employees), medium (between 100 and 999 employees), and large (over 1,000 employees). Gore Mutual was named a Best Workplace in the medium category.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Best Workplaces Canada ceremony was held virtually.
“We’re honoured to receive this national recognition,” commented Gore Mutual chief human resources officer Catherine Leclair. “Our people have always been – and continue to be – our greatest strength. Everyone across our organization has worked hard to build and foster an environment that is powered by diversity and inclusiveness and guided by integrity, empathy, collaboration and transparency.”
According to GPW Canada CEO Jose Tolovi Neto, strong workplace cultures are more vital than ever, especially since social distancing and remote work are becoming the current norm.
“As an organization who’s dedicated to studying what makes a great place to work, we feel it’s especially important to commend teams who have shown resilience, loyalty and commitment even when faced with the uncertainty of recent times,” said Neto. “It’s in challenging times like these that great leaders stand out and organizations, which over time have built high trust and resilient cultures, can reap the greatest value of their commitment to cultivating true great workplaces for all.”
GPW certified Gore Mutual as a Great Place to Work last year, and named the company a Best Workplace in Financial Services and Insurance, as well as a Best Workplace Managed by Women.
