To mark its 178th anniversary,
Gore Mutual announced in a statement on Friday that it has established the
Gore Mutual Resiliency Fund in partnership with national youth charity Pathways to Education.
A release said that the insurer created the $150,000 pilot fund to “help youth in low-income communities in the Waterloo Region and Vancouver graduate high school and successfully transition into post-secondary education, training or employment.”

The establishment of the fund is part of Gore Mutual’s series of community grants in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary. In January, Gore’s Foundation officially launched its “150 Ways” charitable campaign by presenting a $500,000 cheque to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation to fund the construction of a Rehabilitation Center.
“Youth, community and safety are the pillars of our Foundation,” said Gore Mutual president and CEO Heidi Sevcik. “As a modern mutual company, we believe in protecting the future of our youth and communities. We’ve launched this program as a pilot but hope to expand our partnership with Pathways to Education and extend our support to more communities in the areas where we do business. Partnership and cooperation is a part of our history and an integral part of who we are.”

The Resiliency Fund will provide students with both short and long-term financial support – from providing transit fare to offering scholarships.
