The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) has issued a warning for the province’s consumers that the firm named Claims Help Center is not licensed to conduct public claims adjusting services in the region.

The regulator noted that Claims Help Center “appears to be conducting public claims adjusting services through the website www.claims-help.center.”

FSRA encouraged all consumers to exercise caution if they are contacted by Claims Help Center, or anyone that uses the aforementioned website link and claims to be a representative of the company. Consumers have also been warned not to obtain any public claims adjusting services or insurance coverage advice through Claims Help Center.

Claims Help Center may be affiliated with other property restoration companies, FSRA additionally cautioned. Any property restoration company, or its employees who are providing public claims adjusting services and/or insurance coverage advice, must have a corporate adjuster license. Their adjusters must also be licensed and sponsored by a corporate adjusting company.

FSRA offered a reminder that consumers who obtain insurance adjusting services through unlicensed individuals are not protected under the Insurance Act. Consumers are also highly encouraged to check FSRA’s public registry to ensure that they pick a licensed insurance company, agent, or adjuster.
