Imaging software developer FARO announced yesterday the release of its new product: a 2D diagramming software that can be used by law enforcement, fire service, and insurance professionals in their forensic work.

The product, called FARO Zone 2D, enables users to quickly create accurate 2D diagrams without being as complicated as similar other CAD systems. This is made possible with the system’s ‘Work-Flow Ribbons’ feature, making the software much more user-friendly. Users can create state crash reports, crime scene diagrams, pre-incident plans, and fire-protection plans using the software.

Aside from its ease of use, the software maintains a comprehensive feature set, is compatible with previous 2D diagramming software from CAD Zone and ARAS 360, and is compatible with other CAD software applications.

“While FARO is the leader in providing 3D measurement technology, we also recognize how important it is for many of our public safety forensics customers to create accurate, 2D diagrams,” said FARO Chief Commercial Officer Joe Arezone. “FARO Zone 2D is the ideal software application for those who want to recreate scenes from manual measurements, total station data, aerial photographs, and orthographic projections of point cloud data.”

“We are confident that new and existing FARO software users will view FARO Zone 2D as the future of public safety diagramming software. We have paid close attention to the work-flows that our customers use and, through the use of work-flow command ribbons, made it easier than ever to quickly create diagrams with the detail and the formats needed for public safety applications.”
