“We are very proud of our engaging and inspiring work environment where we bring our best every day,” said Economical Insurance senior vice-president and chief human resources officer Louise Taylor Green. “People and culture is a major driver of our profitable growth strategy. We put our customers first and, as a cohesive national team, we’re stronger together. By investing in our talent, we are building a team that is helping us achieve our vision to be one of Canada’s top P&C insurers, recognized for our business innovation and how well we take care of our customers.”
The judges at
Canada’s Top 100 Employers chose Economical for the company’s Dependent Children Scholarship initiative. The project assists children of company employees with their post-secondary education plans, offering scholarships of up to $2,000 a year.
“Our dependent children’s scholarship program generates ever-increasing numbers of high-calibre applicants,” Taylor Green explained.
“Thank you for the generous scholarship awarded to my son,” one parent aided by the program said in a statement. “I recognize that many employers do not provide assistance for academic pursuits to employees and their families. The support Economical provides through the dependent children’s scholarship program makes me proud to work at Economical.”
The judges were also impressed by Economical’s approach to diversity; the company has attempted to build on the success of its Women’s Leadership Network to promote even greater inclusiveness and broader employee diversity.
