Next month marks the fifth anniversary of the National Leadership Awards, and nominations for the coveted CIP Society handcrafted steel sculptures starts now.

Recognizing excellence across Canada in the property and casualty insurance industry, the CIP Society is asking insurance professionals across the nation nominate deserving individuals .

“Over the last five years, the CIP Society National Leadership Awards have recognized a very consistent calibre of leader,” says Julie Pingree, chair of the CIP Society National Council, “who demonstrates excellence, integrity and achievement in everything he or she does.”

Nominations will be accepted between March 1 and June 1, 2014.

Last year’s winners included Ginny Bannerman, James Cameron as Established Leaders; and Anne-Marie Deschenes, Lindsay Mackenzie and Tammie Norn as Emerging Leaders.

“Very, very honoured, I’m quite blown away by it,” Bannerman, vice president of Finance West, Intact Insurance in Calgary, told Insurance Business upon learning that she had been named as one of the two Established Leaders. (continued.)

Bannerman’s career included being named 1986 Insurance Woman of the Year in Calgary, and in 2003, awarded the Jean-Charles d’Auteuil Award for outstanding work on behalf of independent insurance brokers throughout Canada.

In the last five years, 28 honourees have been inducted into the CIP Leadership Circle, each receiving a handcrafted steel sculpture that reads, ‘Good Company.’

“The Leadership Circle is both a reflection of an inspiration for the insurance community,” says Pingree.

The awards program was launched in 2008 as part of the CIP Society’s 10th anniversary celebrations to publicly recognize industry professionals who make an outstanding commitment to their employers, the profession and the communities in which they live.
