When the Canadian Independent Adjusters’ Association (CIAA) went looking for a new national president, they didn’t have to look very far.

The CIAA announced that Albert Poon, CIP – who had only recently taken on the role of first vice president – will effectively immediately become the national president.

“We wish to extend our sincere appreciation to David for his many years of dedicated service to our association,” read a statement from the CIAA, adding that its “services and commitment to membership continues without interruption.”

Poon, the director of operations at Cunningham Lindsey Canada Claims Services Ltd., replaces David Porter.

Porter only lasted a month in the role as president of the CIAA, taking on the role at the annual general meeting and conference back in August. He tendered his resignation on September 19, as he was no longer vice president, western region for Granite Claims Solutions, and a requirement of the CIAA’s constitution is that an individual must be employed by an association member firm.

It was during that month that Granite Claims Solutions was acquired by SCM Insurance Services.
