BrokerLink has announced the acquisition of three brokerages: Law Insurance Brokers in Ontario and Direct-Line Insurance and MKMK Risk Management (MKMK Group) in Alberta.
Direct-Line Insurance, founded in the 1940s, specializes in insurance solutions for homes, vehicles, farms, and businesses. The company operates out of Edmonton, Millet, Warburg, Calmar, Sherwood Park, Beaumont, and Lamont.
“Our customers are top priority for us, so it’s important that we focus on their needs and find the right insurance coverage for their peace of mind,” Direct-Line Insurance president Gord Enders commented.
“We’re passionate about helping others and are excited to continue being there for our customers and community, as part of the BrokerLink team.”
In Calgary, MKMK Group has been providing insurance services since 2010, with a focus on home, vehicle, business, travel, and life insurance. Law Insurance Brokers, meanwhile, has been trading since 1914 as a family-owned firm specializing in home, auto, commercial, and specialty insurance.
“We’re so excited to welcome these new brokerages and their respective teams, who add their valuable local expertise to BrokerLink,” said Michael Stack (pictured), BrokerLink’s vice president of acquisitions.
“We look forward to cultivating new relationships in the communities of Millet, Warburg, Calmar, Beaumont, and Lamont, and serving more customers in Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Calgary, Aurora, and Sudbury.”
A network of insurance brokers in Canada, BrokerLink employs around 3,700 people across more than 200 branches. Recent acquisitions include M. Edward Powell Insurance Brokers, Russ Bastow Insurance Broker, and the personal and SME commercial insurance portfolio of Halpenny Insurance Brokers.
Earlier this year, Stack told Insurance Business: “BrokerLink is committed to being a strong investor and employer in the regions where we operate, and there are several key factors that we look for when it comes to an acquisition.”
These factors, according to the acquisitions head, include location, business mix, people, and commitment to local service and community.
