Capri Insurance is putting its best foot forward for the spring, with the broker’s involvement in the Kelowna-based charity Shoe Bank Canada, an organization dedicated to the collection of shoes which are then shipped to those in need, in the local area, across the province, the nation, and finally in Third World countries.
Kelowna-headquartered Capri is assisting by hosting a donation drop boxes for the charity’s Shoe Drive, scheduled for the month of April, aimed at securing gently used footwear as people clean out their closets.
Erika Jarvis, who handles Communications for Capri Insurance, says this campaign – which Capri has sponsored “since day one” – is just “one part of the community involvement we do. As a locally owned company it’s important for us to give back in the communities we work and live in.”
While this year marks the seventh shoe drive Capri has been involved in, the broker has also been accepting drop offs year-round at all their offices for the last four years.
It’s fitting, as the broker started in Kelowna in 1975, and has grown from that single original location to have branches scattered across the province, with an affiliate in Ontario. With its help the Shoe Bank distributed 12,000 pairs of shoes in the local area since 2014.
“We help the homeless, people on fixed incomes and the working poor, moms and dads just trying to make ends meet,” said founder of Shoe Bank Canada, Jim Belshaw.
