The Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) has announced that Optimum General Insurance (Optimum) will continue its support of the Broker Identity Program (BIP) at the Full Partner level.

The BIP is one of the pillar missions of IBAC. It advocates for the broker distribution channel and positioning the profession as a solid choice for consumers looking to buy property and casualty coverage nationwide.

Optimum’s sponsorship will aid IBAC’s national advertising campaign, which aims to enhance awareness of the value that insurance brokers offer clients, including choice, advice, and advocacy.

The investment will also support various IBAC initiatives, such as technology leadership, professional development for brokers, and federal advocacy efforts that aim to maintain the separation of banking and insurance. This separation is intended to protect consumers and foster a fair marketplace.

Optimum’s senior vice president of corporate partner relations and strategy, J.-Sebastien Lagarde, noted that the partnership renewal reflects the company's recognition of the expertise that independent brokers bring to the industry.

“The expertise of independent brokers greatly contributes to our success, and we firmly believe that their role in the industry is vital to pursue our future goals. Our continued collaboration with them underscores our commitment to recognizing their pivotal role and substantial contribution to the industry,” said Lagarde.

In addition, IBAC CEO Peter Braid expressed appreciation for Optimum’s commitment to the broker channel. “Their renewed investment will contribute to IBAC’s efforts to support and promote the insurance broker profession, and ensure that consumers benefit from the expert advice that brokers provide,” he said.

Since 1976, Optimum General Insurance has served as a property and casualty insurance company, with offices in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia.
