Specialty insurer and reinsurer Brit Ltd has bolstered its open market property division in North America with two new appointments.
James Allchorne and Laura Wells commenced their respective roles as senior underwriter and underwriter on January 4. Both hires report to Neil Russell, class underwriter of the North American open market property team.
Allchorne came aboard the company from Hiscox, where he served as property underwriter. He started his career at Argo Syndicate 1200, holding several underwriting roles. Allchorne also acted as a consultant for the disaster risk financing and insurance team at the World Bank.
Wells, meanwhile, boasts 20 years of experience in direct and facultative commercial property underwriting. She previously served as senior wholesale underwriter at Aviva. Throughout her career, Wells has also held underwriting positions with several industry giants, including commercial property roles at MS Amlin, WR Berkley, and Beazley.
