Billyard Insurance Group (BIG) has expanded its presence in Ontario with three new branches in the Greater Toronto Area.
A press release from BIG said the new branches in Markham East, Port Credit, and Eglinton Square will be led by experienced managing partners, including AJ Arasaratnam, Joben Paul, and Kazi Islam.
Commenting on the expansion, BIG director of business development Jennifer Smith highlighted the company’s continued growth this year.
"We had an incredibly exciting start to 2023 at BIG,” said Smith. “Being able to partner with a number of exceptional insurance professionals has allowed us to continue our expansion into key markets.
“As we continue to grow across the country, we are looking forward to planting our roots into many new communities, both large and small, with the goal of providing exceptional service to our clients, remaining at the centre of what we do. I can’t wait to watch our new locations flourish in the years to come.”
BIG, an independent insurance brokerage, currently has 78 branches across Canada, with services that include property and casualty (P&C), commercial, and life and financial insurance.
The company was recently recognized as one of Insurance Business Canada’s Fast Brokerages awardees for 2023.
Earlier this year, BIG announced that it formed a partnership with Hunter Insurance Inc, which operates as My Hunter. The move was part of a venture to acquire the Mississauga, Ontario-based brokerage, with BIG president Stephen Billyard and BIG Mississauga East managing partner Irfan Shafqat teaming up to lead its operations.
“Partnering with Billyard Insurance Group and Stephen Billyard on this venture was a no-brainer,” Shafqat said of the deal. “The support Billyard Insurance Group has offered to me and my team over the years has been unparalleled. Within only six years, BIG Mississauga East has scaled from a small staff of five people to nearly 100 employees.”
