BFL Canada has announced the appointment of Julie Bédard (pictured) as vice president of strategic position and business relations – Eastern Quebec.
Bédard will report to Frédérik Pelaez, regional vice president – Eastern Canada. She will assume her new role on September 11 and will be based in the firm’s Quebec City office.
Bédard brings over 30 years of experience to her new position, having worked as a lawyer, manager, and businesswoman across finance, insurance, real estate, and economic development. She also spent several years in governance and has launched several development programs supporting coach leaders and entrepreneurs.
Before joining BFL Canada, Bédard was crucial in steering Réseau Medicart’s acquisition-led growth strategy.
“We are happy to welcome Julie among us. I am sure her experience, vision, and business relationships will enable her to raise BFL CANADA’s profile in Eastern Quebec, where she will strategically support business growth and development,” said Pelaez.
Bédard was the first female president and CEO of the Quebec City Chamber of Commerce and Industries. She has supported causes to empower women and is involved with institutions like Université Laval and the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec.
She co-founded the Female Leadership program and has contributed to the A Effect initiative. She also serves as an ambassador for the Quebec City YWCA, a FitSpirit leader, and a member of the Conseil du statut de la femme.
In recognition of her outstanding leadership, Bédard was honored with the Leadership, Femme d’Exception award at the national Les Mercuriades competition in 2020.
Bédard’s appointment comes after Pelaez assumed his current role at BFL Canada earlier this year. Patrick Vena was also named managing partner for its Montreal office.
