To mark a year of remote work conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, belairdirect is providing its customers with new options for mental health support and identity fraud protection.
The insurer is offering new S.O.S Identity theft coverage and enhanced coverage limits to policyholders working from home, to ensure their home office setup remains safe. belairdirect is also giving customers access to digital health and wellbeing education platform LifeSpeak to help them with their mental health needs during the pandemic.
Citing recent statistics from the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, belairdirect said that Canadians lost over $106.4 million to fraud in 2020. People have become even more susceptible to fraud, identity fraud, and cyberattacks thanks to working from home, the figures also revealed.
In addition to cyber risks, Canadians are also vulnerable to mental health issues. The pandemic considerably exacerbated the amount of strain and pressure on many Canadians, belairdirect said, which is why it is offering all clients who sign up for the S.O.S. Identity coverage complimentary, confidential access to the LifeSpeak platform.
According to belairdirect, LifeSpeak has seen a 33% increase in usage since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The pandemic has had a profound effect on all of us, and with work from home happening more permanently, there are now unfortunately additional points of vulnerability,” said belairdirect vice president of direct distribution marketing & digital strategy Marie-Pierre Leclerc. “We’re all continuing to adapt to the ever-changing reality that has become our day-to-day life now. We are committed to being the partner in the process that will continue to support our customers with their changing needs in easy and simple ways, including evolving products and coverage appropriate for our new realities.”
