AXA XL has appointed Sandra Lee as its new head of claims in Canada.
In her new role, Lee will have oversight for all claims activity across P&C, specialty, and professional lines in Canada. She succeeds Glen Hopkinson, who after serving nine years as head of claims in Canada has been appointed a new role within AXA XL’s global transformation team.
"Sandra is a true claims expert with deep understanding of the ins and outs of our clients' needs across all the industries and sectors that we service,” said AXA XL Canada country manager and CEO Renato Rodrigues. “Claims is at the core of our business and with Sandra's leadership our team will continue to provide the exceptional experience that our clients and partners expect and deserve."
"We are delighted to see Sandra step up into this broader leadership role in Canada. She has extensive experience across the claims function and will be a fantastic addition to the broader Americas Claims leadership group," commented AXA XL Americas chief claim officer Jim DiVirgilio.
In a statement, DiVirgilio also took the opportunity to thank the previous head of claims Hopkinson for his “extraordinary tenure” leading AXA XL’s claims operations in Canada, and wished him success in his future role.
Lee joined AXA XL in 2019, bringing with her two decades of experience in casualty litigation, claims adjusting, and commercial liability claims. Before her promotion, she most recently served as lead for the local casualty claims team in Canada. Lee has a B.A. in Criminology from Carlton University as well as the Canadian Risk Management Designation (CRM) from the University of Toronto and the Chartered Insurance Professional Certification (CIP) from the Insurance Institute of Ontario.
