Global risk management product and service provider Assurant has named Paul Cosgrove as president of its Canadian operations.
In his new role, Cosgrove will report to Assurant international president Keith Meier.
“Paul is a highly accomplished leader. His outstanding skills in supporting our client relationships and his vision for growth, both of the business and our people, positions him well for his new role as president, Assurant Canada,” said Meier.
Cosgrove’s appointment takes effect immediately as he succeeds Robert Zanussi, who announced his retirement as president and CEO of Assurant Canada after a 16-year career with the company. A release noted that Zanussi will remain with the business through January 30, 2020 to ensure a smooth transition.
A 25-year veteran with Assurant, Cosgrove has held various leadership roles, having administered the connected living, global auto and financial services businesses. He was most recently vice-president of business development and client management.
“It’s an exciting time to lead the Canadian business, as we continue to focus on providing excellent service and market-leading products to our clients and their customers,” commented Cosgrove on his appointment.
Meier also thanked Zanussi for his years of service for the company, noting that he was “instrumental in shaping Assurant Canada into the innovative business that it is today.”
