The Ardonagh Group has launched Ardonagh Intelligence, a new division aimed at leveraging robotics, machine learning and data enrichment across its businesses.

The initiative builds on six years of investment in data capabilities and will consolidate the company’s technological expertise under a single framework.

Ardonagh Intelligence will integrate insights from the Ardonagh Analytics Lab in Mullingar, Ireland, and Ardonagh Portfolio Solutions, which was established in 2019 to use data analytics for group placement strategy.

The Analytics Lab, launched in 2021 with support from the Irish Government through IDA Ireland, employs more than 100 data scientists and programmers.

CEO David Ross said the initiative strengthens Ardonagh’s ability to manage $18 billion in gross written premium (GWP), with ongoing investment in data capabilities helping to drive efficiencies.

“The further you wade into the global data lake we have assembled over the past six years, the more boundless the opportunities become to deliver efficiencies for our portfolio of companies, and extraordinary benefit to the millions of clients they serve,” Ross said.

The launch comes as Ardonagh reported strong financial results for 2024. The company reported adjusted EBITDA of $683.4 million, up 31.2% from a year ago, while reported income rose 24% to $1.98 billion. The company also increased its workforce by nearly 1,700 employees and launched its first graduate scheme.

Leading Ardonagh Intelligence is managing director Sami Sulaiman, with Ian Donaldson, a key figure in digital insurance distribution, serving as chair.

Ian Cooper, currently Ardonagh Advisory Data & MI director, will move to the new unit to extend data expertise developed in the UK to commercial brokers worldwide.

Sulaiman, who joined Ardonagh in October following its acquisition of PSC Insurance Group, emphasized the role of data-driven insights and AI-powered automation in shaping business performance.

“Ardonagh’s opportunity is unique because it brings together so many businesses which invested early and already excel in this field. By bringing together our global capabilities, we can extend the reach of that expertise and power it to go further and deeper,” he said.

Donaldson highlighted the impact of digital insights across Ardonagh’s portfolio and the potential of a unified strategy to enhance operations.

“By bringing this work together under a unified strategy, we can support local leaders with a roadmap incorporating the latest technologies that will have an immediate and tangible impact on everything from improving productivity to identifying risk insights and growth opportunities, while continuing to invest in the future,” he said.

Ardonagh Intelligence marks a continued push by the company to integrate data and analytics across its operations as it looks to strengthen its market position and drive further efficiencies. The new division is expected to provide long-term value by optimizing decision-making, improving placement strategies, and enhancing risk analysis for businesses across its portfolio.
