Applications are now open for the university scholarships program from the Toronto Insurance Conference (TIC), now in its fourth year.
Founded in 2013 and managed by the
Insurance Institute of Ontario, the TIC Scholarships Program offers financial assistance for up to three $5,000 scholarships to applicants sponsored by TIC brokers, partners and staff, as well as other applicants planning a career in an insurance brokerage.
One of the goals of the TIC Scholarships Program is to raise awareness among young Canadians of the career opportunities available within the commercial insurance brokerage industry, says the Conference in a statement released with the announcement.
“We want to spread the word about the dynamic careers our members offer, many of which involve leading edge business issues and are global in scope,” said TIC president, Sean Duggan in the same statement.
“Many candidates may not realize that their existing skill-sets and current educational path present potential that can be leveraged into a rewarding and successful commercial insurance brokerage career with virtually unlimited opportunities. The TIC scholarship program offers financial assistance to enhance this potential.”
Applicants must be pursuing full-time university undergraduate studies in Canada. Selection is based on academic excellence throughout the applicant’s high school and first year post-secondary career, financial need, contribution to school, community life and/or other meaningful pursuits, major accomplishments and a strong indication of academic promise.
Applications for 2016 close on Sept. 9.
