Aon has bolstered its private client division, tapping two executives to take on senior roles.
James McDowell, who brings 16 years of experience from AXA Art Insurance, has been appointed as head of fine art. In his previous capacity, McDowell specialised in the insurance of high net worth clients, corporate art collections, fine art dealers, as well as independent, local authority, and university museums.
“I am excited about the opportunity to establish Aon as the go-to fine art broker in this vibrant marketplace, and about using my skills and experience for the benefit of our growing client base,” commented McDowell, who worked for Bonhams and Christie’s auctioneers earlier in his career. “I am also looking forward to sharing my passion for the art world with clients and colleagues across the business.”
Meanwhile, Nick Gavin-Powell has been named as private clients head. The former Howden Group divisional director, who also spent time at NFU Mutual and A-Plan Insurance, has more than 17 years of private client experience.
“I was attracted to the role both because of the strong Aon brand and its vision to offer a joined-up approach across its various business units both in the UK and internationally,” noted Gavin-Powell. “I am very much looking forward to growing the private client business by developing and communicating our unique proposition to this market, and to becoming part of Aon’s global success story.”
Martyn Denney, managing director of Aon Affinity, is confident that the key arrivals will play a significant role in the continued success of the private client division.
