Calgary-based, low-cost carrier Lynx Air has tapped Allianz Global Assistance to provide travel insurance products to its customers.
Through this partnership, Allianz will enable Lynx Air passengers to opt for cancellation, interruption, and medical coverage for new bookings and existing reservations.
The protection offered by Allianz to Lynx Air passengers is meant to act as a safety net for situations not covered by the Air Passengers Protection Rights (APPR), including unexpected travel issues, medical emergencies, or last-minute changes enclosed in its policies.
With air travel rebounding from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, travellers have become increasingly conscious of potential unforeseen circumstances that might disrupt their plans. This awareness has driven a surge in demand for travel protection, with a 2022 Allianz survey indicating that 74% of Canadians believe travel insurance is equally or more important post-pandemic.
“Allianz is proud to be Lynx Air’s official travel insurance partner,” said Matt Anstett, director, eComm & travel channel. “Lynx Air customers who select our travel insurance products can have an even more enjoyable trip knowing that we are here to protect them from unexpected events, covered by their policy.”
“Lynx Air is excited to support our valued clients with trusted travel protection from Allianz Global Assistance,” added Vijay Bathija, chief commercial officer at Lynx Air.
“Their travel insurance products not only provide peace of mind, they allow us to provide guests with added confidence as they explore the world.”
News of Allianz’s Lynx Air partnership comes after it expanded its existing partnership with Direct Travel, becoming the leisure travel agency’s official travel insurance partner for both the US and Canada.
