A.P. Reid Insurance Ltd. has recently announced plans to acquire Robinson Insurance Brokers of Edmonton.
Robinson’s brokerage operations will integrate under the A.P. Reid brand effective November 01. Daniel Robinson, current president and owner of Robinson, will remain as the team’s western region manager. A.P. Reid’s Edmonton office and the Robinson office will combine to create a western regional office to be led by both Robinson and A.P. Reid western business development manager Kathleen Corkum. All Robinson staff are expected to remain.
“We are very excited for the opportunity to have Daniel and his team join our firm and lead the next phase of our western expansion,” said A.P. Reid president and CEO Jamie Reid in a release. “Their expertise with complex commercial accounts, including several exclusive programs, fits like a glove within our commercial lines division and also complements our group auto and home division.”
“It’s exciting to be an integral part of a well-known and respected firm from the East, just as they are about to launch a major western expansion,” said Robinson. “As a broker, customer service is paramount. Having the heft of the A.P. Reid national operation behind us will enable us to offer more choices and even better services to our clients.”
A.P. Reid’s acquisition is the company’s latest step in its national expansion plan. The company acquired the Ontario-based Robert C. Davis Insurance in 2014, and in 2015 purchased two group auto and home insurance portfolios as well as establishing an office in Edmonton.
Currently, A.P. Reid has locations throughout Alberta, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec, with clients in all provinces and territories across the country.
Other companies that comprise A.P. Reid’s insurance group include insurance wholesaler Underwriting Contract Administrators Inc., online insurance provider ZipSure.ca, and group insurance division MyGroup Auto and Home Insurance.
