The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) is issuing its last batch of fuel rebate cheques to its customers.

ICBC spokesperson Brent Shearer said that to date, 25,000 rebates have been sent to customers who signed up for direct deposit, while another 573,000 eligible customers received their rebates through their credit cards.

“All other customers, including those who paid by debit, cash, cheque or payment plan, as well as customers whose credit cards could not be processed (for reasons including expiry dates or other technical reasons), will receive their rebate as a cheque,” Shearer told Prince George Citizen.

ICBC began sending out cheques to 2.8 million drivers in June, and now the Crown corporation has announced that the last batch of cheques has been mailed out; customers can expect to receive them within the next week.

In total, 3.5 million ICBC customers were eligible for the $110 rebates.

Shearer advised customers that the ICBC will not issue rebates to customers through a text message or email – anybody who receives a message claiming to be from the ICBC and instructing recipients to click a link should treat the message as fraudulent.
