The Centre for Study of Insurance Operations’ (CSIO) has voiced its support for the Yukon Territories’ support for electronic proofs of auto insurance.
The territories’ top insurance official recently approved the use of digital auto insurance proofs (eSlips), announced through a bulletin. The decision makes Yukon join a growing list of provinces and territories that have also approved the use of eSlips, including Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, Quebec, and the Northwest Territories.
Yukon’s announcement comes as the COVID-19 pandemic remains a global health issue. Digital auto insurance proofs ensure that insurance operations can continue unabated and customers can receive documents and eSlips without the need for in-person meetings or paper mail.
“While the approval of electronic proof of auto insurance was always planned, it’s especially timely that we are able to announce it at such a pivotal time,” said Yukon Territory deputy superintendent of insurance, community services Bradley Rowlett. “With this implementation, we continue to support insurance providers in ensuring they’re able to access and leverage important digital tools so they can deliver the best customer experience.”
Following the Yukon government’s bulletin, CSIO issued its own statement lauding the decision. The centre is a developer of a digital auto insurance proof solution, My Proof of Insurance.
“The approval of electronic proof of auto insurance, and commensurate adoption of My Proof of Insurance, is encouraging to see and confirms the digital shift towards customer service,” said CSIO president and CEO Catherine Smola. “We applaud the Yukon Government in joining the growing list of other provinces and territories that allow consumers the convenience of using of eSlips.”
CSIO’s My Proof of Insurance was launched in 2018.
