Independent Board Member and Consulting Actuary
Anne-Marie Vanier is an Independent Director and Consulting Actuary with over 30 years of general insurance experience. She currently serves as a Director on the board of Gore Mutual Insurance and of LawPro. Ms. Vanier also works as an Independent Consulting Actuary providing actuarial advisory services and audit support to specialized insurers and captives.
Ms. Vanier was Executive Director and Chief Actuary of Aviva Canada from 2016-2017; Chief Actuary at RBC Insurance from 2007-2016. Prior to that she held senior executive positions at Lombard Canada, Guardian Insurance and Mercantile and General.
In 2013, Ms. Vanier received a Professional Leadership Award (Out on Bay Street) recognizing her strong track record of leadership and professional excellence, acknowledging her as a role-model for the LGBTQ community.
Ms. Vanier’s advocacy for the LGBTQ community serves on the board of the Rainbow Railroad, an organisation that provides support to persecuted members of the community beyond the borders of Canada. She also serves on the board of the George Hull Centre for Children and Family Foundation.
Ms. Vanier is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and of the Casualty Actuarial Society and holds a Chartered Director designation from the Directors College. She graduated from Laval University with a Bachelor of Actuarial Science and received an MBA from the Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.
