Saskatchewan Government Insurance, commonly known as SGI, was created in 1945 in Saskatchewan as a publicly-owned insurance company, with a mandate to provide comprehensive, affordable insurance protection.

From those humble prairie roots, the company grew to offer a full line of property and casualty insurance products through SGI CANADA in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.

From the very beginning, we’ve been honoured to partner with insurance brokers to serve customers. We celebrated our 75th anniversary in 2020, and although SGI has changed a lot over the years, what hasn’t changed is our commitment to provide an exceptional partner and customer experience.

SGI employs 2,000 people and partners with over 400 insurance brokerages in more than 1,300 locations across Canada.

Regina, Saskatchewan is home to our corporate head office. SGI has multiple locations across Saskatchewan and offices in Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Toronto.
