These websites falsely present themselves as official AIA platforms and appear to be designed to obtain customer login credentials and other sensitive information.
Last month, the IA issued a public warning about another fraudulent website falsely claiming to represent AIA International Limited. The website, operating under the domain “hxxps://aiahk88[.]com,” appeared to be designed to collect customer login credentials.
The IA also warns the public to be cautious of phishing emails that impersonate authorized insurers in Hong Kong to target consumers.
According to AIA, it has no association with these sites and urges anyone who has interacted with them or conducted transactions to contact its customer service hotline at (852) 2232-8888 and report the matter to law enforcement authorities.
The IA advises consumers to verify the authenticity of websites and social media pages before providing any personal details or making transactions. Checking an insurer’s official website or contacting the company directly can help confirm legitimacy.
