SBI General Insurance taps banking veteran as new managing director and CEO

SBI General Insurance Company has named Shri Naveen Chandra Jha as its new managing director and chief executive officer.

According to The Economic Times, the appointment was confirmed by the parent company, State Bank of India (SBI). Jha will take over from Kishore Kumar Poludasu.

New CEO

Having been part of SBI since 1994, Jha (pictured) has held numerous key positions within the bank. Most recently, he was the deputy managing director of SBI before his new role at SBI General Insurance.

“His extensive experience in diverse fields and innovative, forward-thinking leadership style will bolster our organization's vision for suraksha and bharosa dono,” said SBI General Insurance.

New head of Key Relations Group

Jha joined SBI General Insurance after the appointment of Jaya Tripathi to lead the company’s Key Relations Group.

Tripathi will focus on expanding business opportunities, managing the sales team, and strengthening partnerships to drive profitability.

She has a varied background in general insurance, fashion retail, and tourism. She has held senior roles at Mahindra Holidays, ICICI Lombard, Forevermark Diamonds (De Beers Group), and Aditya Birla Group.

Tripathi earned a post-graduate diploma in business management (marketing) from Symbiosis International University.

“I am excited to join SBI General Insurance as the head – Key Relations Group,” Tripathi said. “In this new role, I look forward to leveraging my experience to drive strategic partnerships and contribute to the company’s growth.”

Rakesh Kaul, chief business officer at SBI General Insurance, welcomed Tripathi to the team.

“We are delighted to welcome Jaya to the SBI General Insurance family. We are confident that with her extensive experience and proven track record, she will play a pivotal and indispensable role in driving our business goals forward,” he said.

Collaboration with IIT Madras

In related news, SBI General Insurance has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) to introduce a new device aimed at enhancing breast cancer treatment.

This device combines hyperthermia with radio and chemotherapy, addressing a significant health concern. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), breast cancer constitutes 28.2% of all female cancer cases in India.
