Peak Reinsurance Company (Peak Re) has appointed David V. Cabral as chief operating officer (COO), effective October 08, 2018.
In his new role, Cabral will lead the Hong Kong-based reinsurer’s business processes integration, and will work towards achieving operational efficiency and driving Peak Re’s technology strategy development, which are all very crucial elements in supporting the company’s continuous growth. He reports to Peak Re CEO Franz Josef Hahn.
“David is an exceptional reinsurance industry leader, and I am very excited to welcome him to Peak Re,” Hahn said. “I am convinced that his appointment will make Peak Re an even stronger organisation for improved stakeholder experience. I am confident that we will benefit from his experience and expertise.”
A veteran of 35 years in the re/insurance industry, Cabral has worked in diverse markets in start-up environments and has successfully built organisations from scratch, a statement from Peak Re said.
He founded a re/insurance advisory firm which provided an extensive range of advisory services from strategy to new product development for insurance companies and insurtech start-ups across multiple geographies. He also has experience in the US and Bermuda markets, working in claims management, risk management, underwriting, operations, and technology transformation.
Cabral has a bachelor’s degree from the University of London and is a member of the Pan-Asia Risk & Insurance Management Association (PARIMA).
