Formerly the operation’s deputy general manager, Ng is based in Kuala Lumpur and James will have overall responsibility for the Labuan operations and its business activities, a statement from the company said. He reports to Celine Ang, head of Asia for Munich Re Syndicate.
Ng succeeds Hassan Mohd Mustafa, who will assume the role of director of portfolio management. Mustafa has been involved in the insurance industry for almost 40 years and has been at Munich Re for over six years, concentrating on the energy and oil & gas classes of business since 1999.

Ng, who has 17 years’ experience in the insurance industry, joined Munich Re in December 2018 from QBE Singapore, where he was chief distribution officer. Prior to that, he was head of brokers for Chubb Malaysia, where he was also a member of the executive committee. He is a Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) and a fellow of the Australia and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF). He holds a bachelor of business degree in economics and finance from RMIT University, Australia and an MBA from Victoria University, Australia.
