InsureTek Middle East 2020, a one-day conference and awards was held on January 29 at Al Wasl Ballroom, Hotel Dusit Thani, Dubai.
The conference discussed key issues affecting the Middle East’s insurance market and provided a platform for professionals to look at industry innovations, and understand fast-changing insurance regulations, according to a statement from the event’s organisers. It was inaugurated by Fareed Lutfi, secretary general of the Emirates Insurance Association and secretary general of the Gulf Insurance Association.
Preceding the conference was the Golden Shield Excellence Awards 2020, which recognised the contributions of individuals and organisations to the insurance industry. The event was supported by the Dubai Insurance Authority
Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company (ADNIC) received the corporate social responsibility award, while RSA was recognised as marine insurance company of the year.
Marsh & McLennan Companies was hailed as broker of the year, and HFW was insurance law firm of the year. Leading marine liability broker of the year was presented to Arya Insurance Brokerage Co; the award for educational & training initiative of the year was bestowed upon RISC Institute; and Inchcape Shipping Services was named the leading P&I correspondent of the year.
Meanwhile, Cigna Insurance Middle East was health insurance company of the year, Now Health International was digital insurer of the year, and Oman Insurance Company was motor insurance company of the year.
