Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) has made two strategic appointments to fortify its leadership team in Asia, with Danny La (pictured left) taking on the role of head of strategic initiatives & business transformation Asia from August 1, while Matthew Day (pictured right) steps in as the new head of risk engineering & loss prevention Asia from August 15.

La brings his expertise from Swiss Re, where he collaborated with insurance clients across the region on data-driven platforms and solutions that supported their growth, profitability, and efficiency objectives. Before that, La held diverse strategic and operational roles at QBE for over eight years across Australia, the UK, and Hong Kong.

Day, on the other hand, transitions from Zurich, where he served as head of Zurich Resilience Solutions, Asia. With over 14 years of insurance experience in claims and risk engineering functions across the UK and Asia, he holds a fire safety and risk management degree and is a Member of the Institute of Fire Engineers (MIFireE).

“We are pleased to welcome Danny and Matthew to our team as we continue investing in strengthening our capabilities in Asia. The appointments support our ambition to expand our reach across markets and to better serve clients’ needs by providing custom-tailored solutions and best risk advisory. We are constantly looking to provide greater value to our clients guaranteeing an in-depth knowledge of their business needs,” GC&C Asia head Axel Roesner said.

Elsewhere for the insurance group, Generali Life Assurance Philippines also named Dr Hak Hong Soo as president and CEO, succeeding Reynaldo Centeno, who announced his retirement last year.
