FM Global has promoted three senior executives in the Asia-Pacific region. James Thompson (pictured above) has been named senior vice president, APAC division manager; Hian Hong Tan has been appointed operations senior vice president, operations manager, Asia; and Andrew Stafford has been named operations senior vice president, operations manager, Australia and New Zealand.
All three have been part of FM Global for more than 18 years.
Thompson succeeded Ziad Alex Tadmoury, who was named head of the global middle-market division. He was most recently vice president, manager, global sales in the APAC region. Based in Melbourne, Thompson is now tasked with oversight of all operations for FM Global’s Asia-Pacific division. He joined the insurer in 1993 as a risk consultant engineer and has since served in various engineering and leadership roles in client service, sales, and underwriting within the US, UK, and Australia markets. Prior to FM Global, Thompson was an environmental project engineer for a Mobil/Exxon joint venture.
Tan (pictured directly above) will head FM Global’s operations in Asia. He was previously vice president, division underwriting manager, responsible for Asia and Australia. He is based in Singapore and will report to Thompson.
Tan joined FM Global in 2004 as a risk consultant engineer. Since then, he has held various roles, including account engineer, account manager, and client service manager, with a primary focus on Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and South Korea. Prior to FM Global, Tan was a process engineer for ABB Lummus Global.
Stafford (pictured directly above) is based in Sydney and is responsible for FM Global’s operations in Australia, reporting to Thompson. He succeeded Lynette Schultheis, who now oversees FM Global’s Western division. Stafford was previously regional senior vice president, AFM EMEA and Australia.
Since joining FM Global in 1994 as a consultant engineer in Melbourne, Stafford has held a wide range of roles, including manager for field engineering training in Norwood, Massachusetts, in 2000, and account manager for London operations in the UK in 2005. Stafford relocated back to Australia in 2008 as an account manager in Sydney, before assuming the role of client service manager for Australia operations in 2011.
