AXA Malaysia has concluded its eighth annual corporate responsibility (CR) week, where the company and its employees engaged in various charitable initiatives to give back to their communities.

From June 25 to June 29, AXA facilitated activities such as healthy sushi making classes, a cancer awareness campaign in partnership with National Cancer Society Malaysia, blood donations, and a garage sale with the proceeds benefiting a school classroom improvement project in Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Delima.

A total of MYR50,000 (around US$12,000) was donated to five NGO partners – National Kidney Foundation, National Cancer Society Malaysia, Yayasan Jantung Malaysia, World Vision, and World Wildlife Fund.

To mark the celebrations at the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the company invited children from Pusat Aktiviti Kanak-Kanak (PAKK) to the AXA office in Kuala Lumpur. Donations of groceries and household items were also handed over to PAKK.

“This CR week is a great avenue for us, as a corporation, to engage our staff to contribute to a good cause and help the underserved community,” said Rohit Nambiar, chief executive of AXA Affin Life Insurance Bhd. “We believe the long-term success of AXA Malaysia contributes to the health and well-being of society in general.”

In conjunction with this year’s CR week, AXA Affin General Insurance (AAGI) introduced an “employee social responsibility leave,” which aims to encourage employees to participate in local charities and good causes beyond the CR week.

All AAGI employees are given two days yearly where they can volunteer for charitable causes of their choosing, without having to spend their annual leave credits.

CR week is a worldwide initiative involving all of AXA’s employees. Last year, over 60,000 employees participated in various volunteering and fund-raising activities globally.
