The University of Kansas Hospital Authority is being sued by a former cafeteria worker who claims that the hospital’s HR department overlooked a sexual harassment case.
The lawsuit was filed in federal court Tuesday, alleging that hospital cook Demi Trimble was the target of sexual harassment by another cook when she started her work in May 2016.

Trimble claims that she told human resources about the harassment, but the issues were never dealt with and the harassment continued. She resigned only a month after starting, on June 17.
Aramark, the food services contractor Trimble works for, was also named as a defendant in the suit.
The Associated Press reported that Trimble’s claim is the latest of three employment-related lawsuits pending against the hospital. The Cornerstone Law Firm in Kansas City helped file all three suits.
The Kansas City Star reported that the hospital denies the allegations in the lawsuit.
“We deny the allegations. We trust in the judicial system and we’ll let it play out,” hospital spokesman Dennis McCullough said in a statement.
