Florida-based Universal Insurance has expanded its direct-to-consumer online platform for property and casualty products into three more states.
The Universal Direct platform is now available to homeowners in Florida, Hawaii and North Carolina, increasing the insurer’s market to 10 states which include Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Alabama.
"The expansion of Universal Direct into these new markets is a testament to the positive feedback we continue to receive from consumers for this unique online platform," said Sean Downes, chairman and CEO of Universal Insurance.
"As we continue to roll out Universal Direct to new markets, our uncompromising focus on providing customers with high quality service through our vertically-integrated business model remains a top priority,” he added.
With the success of Universal Direct, Downes said the company will continue to invest in the online platform to meet rising customer demand for convenient and flexible insurance solutions.
Universal has written its first policies through the online platform in Florida, Hawaii and North Carolina.
The insurer said independent appointed agents operating in the three states have the opportunity to receive commissions from policies written by the company’s property and casualty business.
