Everyone wants a good deal when they’re buying a new car and it seems an increasing number of car buyers are taking into account the total cost of ownership when they make a purchase: and that includes car insurance.

Now their search has been made a little easier as Mercury has published its list of the cheapest cars to insure in the USA.
Honda filled three of the top five spots, with its Fit model on top of the heap, followed by the Ford Fiesta, the CR-V, the Pilot and Mini Countryman.

The list, according to a Yahoo Finance report, is based on Mercury’s price for full coverage, which includes liability, comprehensive and collision, in California. Its research and development team examined 100 car models to compile its list.
“Car shoppers are extremely savvy today and are looking at the total cost of ownership - and car insurance is one way to help lower this cost,” Tom Coyne, auto line lead for Mercury, said in the report.

Here is the complete top-10 list, beginning with the cheapest 2017 vehicle to insure.

  4. Honda Pilot
  5. MINI Countryman
