Chubb has appointed Gerard “Jerry” Butler as its senior vice president,
Chubb Group, division president, field operations, North America Insurance.
Butler’s new position grants him responsibility for North America’s field organization, which is composed of 48 offices in the United States and Canada. In addition, he will be in charge of executing North American business strategies locally by presenting a full complement of capabilities and services to the company’s agent and broker distribution partners and managing important long-term business relationships.

Equipped with more than three decades of experience, including 26 years at Chubb, Butler recently served as chief operating officer, North America Field Operations. He also served as executive vice president and US field territory operations manager for Chubb before ACE acquired the company in January 2016. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Glassboro State College and has attended executive management programs at Wharton Business School, as presented on Chubb’s news website.

Butler succeeds Harold Morrison who will retire at the end of the year after 33 years. Morrison joined The Chubb Corporation in 1984, and has held a number of managerial and leadership positions for the company. He also became Chubb Corporation’s executive vice president, and served as chief global field officer and chief administrative officer prior to ACE’s acquisition.

He has been a thoughtful and collaborative partner to me and our broader team since the merger and I look forward to working with him and Jerry on a smooth transition in addition to his continued endeavors for the company. Jeffrey Updyke, Chief Operating Officer, North American Field Operations, will become Butler’s successor. His task is to help in the daily management of North American Field Operations, particularly on distribution management, data analytics and sales. He will also oversee Chubb Insurance Solutions Agency.
